Introduction of electronic securities

Initial situation

The German law on the introduction of electronic securities (eWpG) enables issuers to issue bearer bonds to a (central) custodian electronically by entering them in a central register in addition to the paper form.

Design and implementation of the central register during the drafting phase of the law, no best practice from comparable projects, as the eWpG dematerialised securities for the first time.

Close coordination with the regulator in setting up the central register. Development of the new issuance route along and partly using the existing legacy systems.
